The Career Development Conversations Masterclass is a 3-hour workshop that aims to equip learners with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct meaningful career development conversations.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of core coaching skills

Learning Elements

  • Online Learning: Learners are asked to download a detailed Learner’s Toolkit and watch a collection of bite-sized videos in the lead to the workshop
  • Workshop: A highly pragmatic classroom-based or virtual workshop that employs experiential learning (real plays) as the primary learning strategy.
  • Learner Toolkit, Job Aid & Template: A collection of downloadable documents, quick and easy references and templates for learners to and use.
  • Post-Workshop Activity: A very real activity that is designed to reinforce learning transfer through application and reflection.

Workshop Outline

  • The Bad: The facilitators demonstrate how not to conduct a career development conversation. This is followed by a discussion on what the manager did wrong and how the employee responded.
  • Key Concepts: The facilitators provide a quick recap of the key concepts covered in the online learning.
  • The Good: The facilitators demonstrate how to conduct a career development conversation using the GROW model. This is followed by a discussion on what the manager did well and how the employee responded.
  • Piggies in the Middle: Working as a group, learners demonstrate how to give Feed Forward to a facilitator based on a scenario provided. The facilitators provide live feedback on their approach.
